Romance Book Club aims to read feminist and inclusive romance. Whether you're a voracious romance reader already or looking to expand your romance horizons, if you're excited to gush about and critically analyze romance novels, we're here for you. We'll pick one romance every month to meet and discuss at the bookstore, and we hope you'll join us!
Past titles we’ve read are, in order, The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory, Unraveled by Lauren Dane, An Extraordinary Union by Alyssa Cole, The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, Death's Dancer by Jasmine Silvera, and The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare, Heroine Complex by Sarah Kuhn, Roomies by Christina Lauren, Pride by Ibi Zoboi, A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas, Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri, 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne, Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik, Lady Derring Takes a Lover by Julie Anne Long, The Matchmaker’s List by Sonya Lalli, Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton, and Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston.
The Great Big Romance Read
For September’s Romance Book Club, we’re joining forces with The Ripped Bodice, the only romance-only independent bookstore in the US, and other book clubs all around the country to read the same book. For the inaugural Great Big Romance Read last year, we read Pride by Ibi Zoboi.
This September, we can’t wait to discuss The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics by local author Olivia Waite! This is a powerful romance featuring lesbian and bisexual women practicing science and culturally devalued art in regency England, and it is absolutely stunning work. We can’t wait to talk about it as part of this nation-wide conversation.
